This month, VIVID Luxury welcomes  Life Grand Café, the designer food destination known for its exceptional, yet easy food experiences; who will be opening in the brand new Waterfall Corner development in Sunninghill and at The Club in Waterkloof, Pretoria this month.

Harnessing a heritage rooted in understated glamour, eco-conscious simplicity and beautiful aesthetics, Life Grand Café is the brain child of Maira and John Koutsoudakis, founders of the award-winning Life Grand Group. The first Life Grand Café opened it’s doors in Nelson Mandela Square 14 years ago, and today, Life Grand Café brand – the hospitality arm of the Life Grand Group – is expanding its award-winning food concept into two new locations as part of a bigger global expansion plan.

The Life Grand Group, consisting of Life Interiors+Architecture+Create Direction, Life Grand Café, and Life Collection, boasts a long list of international awards and accolades including an international Elle Decoration EDIDA Award, a Gold Loerie for Interior Design, a Condenast Traveller UK award, a Tatler Travel Award and a National Geographic Traveller award to name a few. The Life Group was also responsible for the design of the set of The Apprentice South Africa, and the interior design of some of the most luxurious resorts in the world, including Segera, Kenya and the super exclusive North Island Resort in the Seychelles.

The Life Grand Café flagship restaurant in Hyde Park Shopping Centre has an emphasis on celebration and libation; the glamorous yet informal space fuses culinary opulence and inventive food with prolific design and a luxurious retail corner which incorporates sophisticated home products with functional simplicity. Its this winning concept that the group is expanding upon, without compromising quality nor attention to detail. Each Life Grand Café will have its own unique signature, designed to blend seamlessly with its environment and unique setting, each boasting a relaxed indoor-outdoor flow. At Life, its not just about the food and the service; its about the entire sensory experience it offers its guests.

Life head chef Jeanel Pieterse excels at the task of creating inventive dishes which range from rustic, hearty meals with a home cooked feel; to cosmopolitan tapas and entrees which work in perfect synergy with the urban energy surrounding the space. Visitors to the multi-faceted establishment can expect each of their senses to be stimulated by refreshing attention to detail such as the personalised messages left on the foam of their cappucinos, the innovative food menu, and the friendly yet efficient service. The offerings range from designer sushi, to continental breakfast, artisan cheeseboards; and mains include Harissa Spiced Calamari, classic Chicken Korma and finally, decadent desserts such as the Nutella Banana Split and world renowned Eton Mess. The use of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables along with gourmet ingredients blend aesthetic with taste to bring stylish patrons a nutritional, sensory experience in a relaxed setting. The Life food and wine pairing events planned over the next couple of months will further bring fresh new sensory experiences to Gauteng diners.

With the opening of their new Waterfall and Waterkloof cafes, their ethos of ‘Food you want to leave home for, food you feel at home with’ will be continued with their signature wholesome, soulful glamour and ambience resonating throughout . The richly curated décor with spent bullet shells imbedded into the floor as an added quirk, acts as social commentary to the overall dining odyssey and with 5% of the profits going to environmental and social upliftment projects, Life Grand Café also leaves your spirit feeling as fulfilled as your senses.

The new Life Grand Cafes can be found at Shop 57, Waterfall Corner, corner of Woodmead & Maxwell drive, Sunninghill, and Shop 113; Club Retail, Corner Pinnaster & Dely road, Waterkloof.
