Select HNWI’s, VIP’s and Media attended the launch of the new prestigious Fairline yacht at a glittering cocktail party held at the One & Only, Cape Town on the 27th of February 2014. It hosted by Boating World’s MD Derrick and Suzanne Levy. Guests enjoyed a selection of hand crafted canapés, sipped on Moet &Chandon Champagne and were serenaded throughout the evening with a string quartet as guests marveled at the fine craftsmanship of the yacht that was moored in the basin of the hotel.
Sumptuous furnishings and hand-worked cabinetry are hallmarks of the Fairline Squadron S65, and nowhere are these details more elegantly expressed than in the long, wide single-level interior – a testament to the 65’s ingenious flat floor design. Having such uncomplicated, single floor levels is normally reserved for much larger yachts, but the designers at Fairline have achieved just that on this 65-footer and leaves no doubt that an elegant, beautifully proportioned Squadron awaits you.
The first of its kind sold through South Africa into Angola, the S65 yacht is fitted with twin Caterpillar C18’s ensuring she performed extremely well, cutting through the slight chop and reaching up to 35-knots. Tight turns are easily negotiated even at high speed. This sexy, al fresco-style area sums up the personality of this yacht: spacious, easy to move around in and an experienced entertainer’s dream. The S65 yacht has three distinct social areas: lavish sunbathing on the forward cruising chaise longue and sun pad, or the aft facing sunbeds and there’s the extensive seating/dining area. Apart from the odd trip down to the sumptuous day head, there really is no need to move once one’s comfortably ensconced up here!
Derrick Levy, MD of Boating World says “The views are spectacular and every care in the world just melts away as you glide along the waves with the wind on your face”. The bar area meets every gastronomic need from drinks to eats, thanks to the refrigerator, icemaker, sink and BBQ griddle!
