The VEUVE CLICQUOT MASTERS – 2011 – One of the most talked about Events of the Season.

17th April 2011 – VIVID organised arguably the most glamorous event of the South African 2011 Polo Calendar – the Veuve Clicquot Masters. The event took place for the first time this year, at Val de Vie Wine and Polo Estate this past Sunday. With over 600 Celebrities, VIPs, socialites and polo lovers in attendance and all dressed to impress, the glamour and glitterati was out in full force.

Veuve Clicquot boasts a long history with polo in Europe and the US and was delighted to host their first South African polo event. Taking their cue from the Manhattan Classic in New York and the UK’s Gold Cup, the South African Veuve Clicquot Masters was every bit as glamorous. Celebrities and VIPs mingled at the sophisticated Veuve Clicquot polo lounge and bar, dressed in outfits by top designers such as Malcolm Kluk, Gavin Rajah and Hendrik Vermeulen Couturier. Celebrities in attendance included Jeannie D, Vanessa Haywood, Elana Africa, Mark Bayly, Sonia and Matthew Booth, Vanessa Marawa and Rosie Motene.

With the Veuve Clicquot flowing guests enjoyed the captivating polo and entertainment throughout the day, including the talented male-only A’Capella group, D-Seven and, the highlight of the day, Lindiwe Suttle, performing her brand new debut single, Man Made Moon. Veuve’s French flair could be seen during the pètanque games hour (better known as boules), with several top celebrities participating in the fun and winning luxury prizes such as Veuve Clicquot champagne, Hermès Fragrances, Marios Company for Hair vouchers and a weekend for 6 people in the Cape Royal Penthouse.

Aside from Veuve Clicquot’s ‘invitation only’ lounge, other VIPs were spoiled in the VIP Masters Lounge by luxury brands Viyella Menswear and Coco Palm Resorts from the Maldives. Tickets could also be purchased by the public to the Polo Club Lounge, which had its own Pamper Station where Marios Company for Hair, David Sharp Make-up and The Little Hattery made sure glamour was the order of the day.

A perfect Cape sunset and full moon rising over the Simonsberg Mountains ended a sophisticated, entertaining day at the Veuve Clicquot Masters – an event that is set to become an annual institution in the social calendar.
