Looking for the perfect spot to indulge in the age-old ritual of an extravagant high tea after an exhausting day sampling Cape Town’s finest shopping boutiques? Sun International’s Table Bay Hotel is the place.
In an elegant setting within this iconic hotel guests can watch the afternoon sun set on Table Mountain whilst being served a feast on gleaming silverware. Beautiful tea pots, crisp white napkins and an atmosphere to reflect Cape Town’s regency past all come together to reflect the elegance, style and service on offer at The Table Bay Hotel.
Assistant Pastry Chef, Bhupeder Kumar, has recently unveiled his magnificent Spring High Tea menu which contains an assortment of decadent treats and even a couple of healthy choices for those of us watching our figures for summer. From the Saintly, to the Sinful, to the Wickedly Good; guests can choose from watching those calories with a seasonal fruit pavlova or indulging in the Cointreau-steeped strawberry Romanoff or the raspberry Amarula crème brule (full of alcohol but gluten-free). For those of us who opt to go all out and delve into a sugar coma there is rum fruit cake and even mini croquembouche, made of a chocolate cone and cream filled profiteroles, to satisfy even the biggest sugar addicts of us all.
However, the traditional savory items are not forgotten with three types of quiche; spring green garden, biltong and goat’s cheese and curried chicken, along with an assortment of warm puddings and who could forget the ultimate high tea treat: the scone and all its garnishes.
