January saw the start of the new season of Fashion Weeks, with the top fashion houses of Milan and Paris showcasing their latest men’s collections on the international circuit.
One of the biggest trends shown for Autumn Winter 2011 was without doubt leather, with both Trussadi and Hermes showing the winter staple in various colours – in fact Trussadi had constructed their entire collection from this sumptuous fabric.
Dark and muted colours schemes were highlighted with pangs of orange, surely the colour to be seen in every man’s closet next season. Burberry, D&G and Mugler were amongst many who showed how jackets, bags, suits and even gloves could provide the final touch through this dramatic colour.
Designers set the new silouette for suits, with sloping shoulders on oversized blazers and jackets, as seen at the Prada and Yves Saint Laurent show. With crimson velvets appearing on the Parisian catwalks, winter looks so far to be all about easy luxury for men.
As the catwalk season has only just begun, we will wait to see what other trends are yet to come. Fashion lovers should watch the catwalks of Montreal Fashion week and the prestigious Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, happening next week, for more.
