Apart from all being female, they are listed as one of the World’s100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes.
Each year Forbes releases the list, it includes women from across the world including entertainers, politicians, entrepreneurs, and billionaires. According to Forbes.com, the top 100 were selected from a preliminary group of over 250 candidates from around the world from seven categories or power bases: billionaires, business, lifestyle (including entertainment and fashion), media, non-profits and NGOs, politics and technology. Forbes applied three metrics: money, media presence and impact, to determine the rank within each category, as well as the overall rank on the list of 100.
The No. 1 Power Woman is German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel has made the list eight times out of the past ten years and seven times as No. 1. This year the list features nine heads of state who run nations with a combined GDP of $11.8 trillion — including The 24 corporate CEOs control $893 billion in annual revenues, and 16 of the women here founded their own companies, including two of the three new billionaires to the list, Tory Burch and Spanx’s Sara Blakely. Speaking of, this year’s class has 14 billionaires valued in excess of $82 billion.
