Belvedere Vodka and one of Cape Town’s leading fashion designers Kluk CGDT joined forces and put on a stylish evening for Cape Town’s fashion forward on Wednesday, 14th December 2011.
In another top event organised by VIVID LUXURY, guests where given an exclusive preview of Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel du Toit’s new flagship store in Bree Street as well as a showcase of their latest collection recently shown at New York Fashion Week.
In keeping with both luxury brands the outside area of the new store was transformed into an elegant space, using a black marquee and chic décor including black baroque mirrors, silver candelabras, candle lit birdcages and crisp white Belvedere trees.
In true Belvedere and Kluk CGDT form the fashion showcase was unlike a usual runway show. Models made their way through the crowd of guests to stand on platforms in dim lighting creating a mysterious atmosphere as the striking figures where silhouetted by shadows.
This exclusive event saw celebrities such as Elana Africa, Colin Moss and Matthew and Sonia Booth, mingling with fashion media and Cape Town’s stylish socialites. Guests sipped on chic Belvedere cocktails while live music served as entertainment.
Kluk CGDT were awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and African ‘Designer of the Year 2011’ at the Arise Magazine Awards in Lagos earlier this year. They were one of the five African designers involved and they where honoured to be the only South African designers selected.
As part of their prize they were then selected to go to New York Fashion Week on the 15th September 2011 to take part in a fashion show collective showing fifteen of their designs. Their inspiration was African Romance so an abundance of African lace with tulle and silk satins and feathers were used. They then expanded this collection to sixty pieces for an epic show at Africa Fashion Week and received rave reviews. ELLE Magazine named it their most memorable moment of 2011 and the show was described as ‘emotional’, and the ‘Glee’ soundtrack definitely gave it a lot of heart.
