The Spring Summer 2014 Collection takes Gucci’s respect for tradition and devotion to innovation to an extreme with research on materials and new shapes. High-tech solutions give suits an unexpected look and turn active sportswear into a luxurious, sophisticated style. The Gucci man’s romantic soul and instinctive spontaneity bring the collection to life with floral-inspired prints, across a variety of designs and pairings. This season sees a progression of Gucci’s duality – the coalescence of a formal man, loyal to a classic sartorial tradition, with a man who loves to dare and who seeks from this very same tradition distinctive workings, materials, and volumes.
MATERIALS and SILHOUETTE
Techno tailoring. Gucci’s aesthetic codes saturate sportswear – for the reinvention of the mackintosh, t-shirt, and hoodie in leather and neoprene. The riding pant, from Gucci’s equestrian tradition, takes on a new look for the collection’s fil rouge. Monochrome or printed, featuring suede or leather contrast inserts, with functional details that become esthetic. From the sartorial silhouette, the three-piece suit meets modern materials including techno-stretch jersey and nylon cotton. In netted popeline stretch cotton or printed silk, the t-shirt takes the place of the shirt. Boxy-style windbreakers with tone-on-tone or contrast graphic workings. Laser cuts and technical gear wisely crafted as exquisite artisanal detailing. Cotton knits with hand embroideries in cotton wool.
COLOURS and PRINTS
Blue with accents of bordeaux. Icy white from head to toe or interspersed with new neutrals such as beige or grey. Military green with a flash of yellow. Coral. Prints, referencing Gucci’s iconic floral patterns, tinge pants, t-shirts, suits, and outerwear. Printed silk for the jumpsuit and the new jacket in the style of a shirt. Mixed and matched in different colours for a romantic zest. Inspired by tie patterns, mini polka dots characterize deconstructed formal wear.
Researched materials and workings, crossing formal with informal, define this season’s accessories. The sneaker, borrowing leather skins and craftsmanship from the traditional lace-up, completes every look. Dual functionality in the form of a shopper bag that turns into a backpack and maxi proportions for the weekender. Sunglasses in bright colors. Leather bracelets with the horsebit or small chains. The Gucci Dive watch in black and stainless steel or the limited edition in black and pink gold.
