Finally, the long awaited glass slippers by Christian Louboutin, inspired by Disney’s Cinderella Diamond Edition, were released in Paris on July 4th. Only 20 gorgeous pairs of these fairytale inspired shoes will be given away world wide creating 20 real life Cinderella’s with their glass slippers. Louboutin says, “It’s a very classic fairytale about love and the dream that love is absolutely pure.”
Louboutin used lace paired with glittering, two sparkling butterfly embellishments and a 5 inch heel encrusted in Swarovski crystals to replicate the beloved 1950’s Disney shoe combined with the iconic red sole of Christian Louboutin.
Louboutin also takes on an acting role in a short film to promote the shoe where he takes the role of a shoe cobbler making the shoe for a modern day Cinderella. Louboutin refers to the slippers as “the magic wand of transformation” placing the wearer into a “world of fantasy and there is always a happily every after.”
Harrods, London Knightsbridge, will follow a similar theme with Christmas windows featuring couture dresses inspired by Disney’s favourite princesses by designers such as Valentino, Elie Saab, Versace and Oscar de la Renta.
